Trees
The Badger Tree starts with James Parker Badger and Phoebe Clay who
immigrated to Canada between 1847 and 1852.
On this site, Sarah Blanchard is the matriarch of the Blanchard tree.
Although she was born in Ontario, I have not found information about her
parents yet.
Henry Burke and Bridget Haden immigrated to Canada between 1838-1841.
This section traces the Clark family from James Clark and Jane Vance who
lived in Hinchenbrook, Quebec, Canada in 1840 after immigrating from
Ireland.
James died in South Pontiac, Quebec, after which the family spread out.
Some of the children settled in Parry Sound, Ontario, while most of them
moved cross border to northern Michigan. While some of those stayed in
Cheboygan, Michigan, including mother Jane, others moved across the United
States, with at least three of the brothers dying in California.
For the Detlor family, we start with George Detlor, a United Empire
Loyalist who migrated to Canada from the USA between 1800 and 1812 with his
wife Lettie Van Pelt.
Melchior File was born in New York, but migrated to Canada where he married
Rachel Jenckes in 1796.
Descendants of William Hay and Isabella Henderson.
Descendants of Joseph Jenckes and Rachel Davis.
John Henry Jones and Mary Alice Jones were both born in Wales. They married
in Manchester, England before migrating to Canada in 1863.
The Linton family is currently six generations deep in Canada from the
immigration of Frederick Charles Linton in 1907 from Bristol, England. He
married Ethel Wimhurst in Northern Ontario on Christmas day 1912.
Generation three is still alive, so this is the shortest family listed.
Descendants of William Little and Jane West,
Descendants of Ewen MacPherson and Isabelle MacLeod.
Ellen Mahoney migrated to Canada with her parents between 1827 and 1854.
Thomas McGown migrated to Canada in 1844 with his wife Margaret McNaughton.
Descendants of David Milne and Ann Scott.
Descendants of John Morrison and Mary Peters.
Descendants of James and Betsy Patterson.
Descendants of John Conrad Sills and his two wives Sarah Blanchard and Anna
Maria Amey.
The West family is not the shortest family that I trace on this site, but
it is pretty close. I think it is the last family to call Canada home,
arriving in 1912. It begins with Lewis Victor West immigrating to Canada
pre-World War 1. His wife, Eleanor, and two children soon followed him to
Toronto where he had obtained a position in a factory. Three more girls
were born in Canada. The family moved from Toronto about 1921. In 1935
Lewis, Eleanor, Fred and probably Louise were living in Otter Lake Station
near Parry Sound. There are probably only six generations. Because most of
the third and subsequent generations are still alive, this would be an
exercise in social media rather than history to trace them all.
Descendants of David Williams and Sarah Wallis.
John Charles Wimhurst married Ada Rose Matthews in 1883 in London, England.
In 1907 they immigrated to Canada from Peas Pottage, England along with
their four children. They settled in Ingram Township outside of Englehart,
Ontario.
